Description
The Geochemist will support Fervo Energy’s geoscience modeling workstream to achieve our geothermal energy development goals. This position will play a key role in evaluating geothermal resource potential and executing exploration activities across Fervo’s growing resource holdings. Responsibilities will include working with geochemical datasets to build conceptual models of geothermal reservoirs, developing chemical sampling and monitoring programs, and assessment of brine scaling potential. The Geochemist will report to the Exploration Geoscience Lead.
Responsibilities
- Compile geochemical datasets to build conceptual models of geothermal reservoirs
- Develop and oversee chemical sampling and monitoring programs for Fervo’s assets
- Assist in the development of well testing programs
- Assess brine scaling potential for flow tests and long term production/injection
- Design innovative tracer programs for mapping flow pathways, fracture surface area, and temperature distribution in the subsurface
- Model long term implications of fluid chemistry and temperature on proppant
- Assist with asset management, resource reserve estimates, and investment analysis/diligence
- Travel periodically to field sites (mostly in western US) as required
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a geochemist in the geothermal, mining, and/or oil & gas industries
- Master’s degree in geochemistry, chemistry or related discipline
- Proficiency in geochemical modeling software and GIS software
- Experience in data analytics and geostatistics
- Driven self-starter & team player, willing to plan and execute with little oversight
- Preferred: PhD degree in geochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline
