POSITION SUMMARY
Qcells is looking for a Project Development Analyst to support and assist with the development of commercial & industrial and small utility solar and storage projects across United States. The Project Development Analyst is expected to participate in identification, assessment, and origination of projects. The analyst will have a great opportunity to learn about and explore the fast-growing renewable energy and energy storage markets. This position is expected to be a “hybrid” role, with time both in the office and working in the location of your choice. Some of our key offices are in the New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco metropolitan areas. There may be some travel for meetings to such locations. Reporting to the head of the group or other senior manager, you will work closely with project origination staff. Your responsibilities will include:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting the project development process from project conception to completion, including documenting overall project advancement status and milestones.
- Gathering inputs for technical assessment and financial models from internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizing and documenting project materials across multiple data sources.
- Developing preliminary solar power and energy storage system project designs.
- Forming techno-economic evaluations of new potential project and investment opportunities.
- Creating project summaries, identifying project conditions and risks, analyzing and optimizing project economics with support from the project finance, project engineering, and/or project management teams.
- Developing client-facing presentations.
- Providing contracting and bidding support, including logging action items, questions, and issues during contract negotiations.
- Conducting market and competitive research to offer strategic input on market development to company management.
- Assisting with building external relationships, such as with land and building owners, utilities, and local and state government administrators.
- Working with other businesses, including those related to Qcells.
- Performing other duties and special efforts.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree, such as in engineering, energy, environmental or sustainability field.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using HelioScope, Energy Toolbase, or other photovoltaic system design and energy modeling software.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, both spoken and written.
- Demonstrated familiarity with solar power and/or energy storage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree, ideally in engineering, energy, environmental or sustainability field, or similar level of energy-specific experience.
- Record of attention to detail and analytical thinking with the ability to identify and solve potential risks and challenges.
- Organized and self-motivated.
- Team orientation, can-do attitude and a sense of humor.
- Use of advanced Excel functions is preferred.
- Experience with complex project delivery.
- Basic understanding of commercial and industrial load profiles and utility tariff structures (energy charges, demand charges, fixed charges).
- High-level understanding of the dynamics between energy policies, technology, and finance.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and on time-sensitive milestones/deliverables.
- High-level understanding of project engineering, procurement, and construction processes.
