QCELLS Enable is the EPC branch of Qcells for the Commercial, Industrial, Distributed Generation, and Small Utility Scale solar markets. Our mission is to provide world class design and installation of large-scale PV and ESS systems throughout the US. Our position as a leading module manufacturer means we can offer end-to-end solutions for project developers and asset managers. We are expanding our offerings and have several open positions currently in our Teaneck, New Jersey headquarters.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Construction Manager will be responsible for planning commercial-scale solar construction projects and oversee their progress along the way in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and the work schedule of the projects. Overseeing and managing contractors, reviewing design drawings and monitoring the construction work schedule from conception to completion of each project.
This position works closely with all Qcells Enable’s departments and must be able to work independently with little to no supervision and will be required to work in the field under various conditions. Candidates must have a strong background in electrical construction, safety, quality assurance, operations and maintenance, and troubleshooting of Commercial Solar Systems, preferably in the renewable energy field. This position reports to the Vice President of EPC Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations as well as quality standards
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
  • Manage the procurement related activities, select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance
  • Review the work progress on a daily basis
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging operational challenges and identify work process improvements
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other specialists, and hire full-time and part-time subcontractors and laborers, and coordinate their schedules
  • Attend coordination and progress meetings; make regular trips to sites during construction including bid walks, pre-construction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, and construction closeout
  • Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, assuring working environment is maintained at acceptable levels, and tools and equipment are in good working condition
  • Maintain and update SOW and preconstruction documents, and monitor contract obligations with a goal of building relationships with reliable contractors and vendors
  • Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruption
  • Perform regular check-ins with job site managers to gauge project progress
  • Review activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas for cost reduction and program improvement, facilitate a “lessons learned meeting“ after project completion to document areas of improvement and excellence
  • All other assignments and special projects, as requested by Management

REQUIRE QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or another related Engineering field
  • Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience with solar company operations
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in service industry at manager level
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and capable of working independently
  • OSHA-30 & SST 62-hour Certifications required
  • Proven working experience and advanced knowledge of construction management processes,
  • Experience in constructing PV and/or ESS projects
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process
  • Familiarity with construction management software packages
  • Ability to travel, up to 75% of the time
  • NABCEP Certification, preferred
  • Fluency in MS Project, or equivalent project management software
  • Ability to read plan sets
  • Strong Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
  • Ability to work a variety of hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to climb ladders to access rooftops of buildings
  • Excellent time management and financial management skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate among construction, technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic, environment
