Position Overview
The Direct Sales Manager, Home Energy Solutions division is responsible for driving revenue growth and profitability through the sale of Solar PV Systems and Electricity Storage Solutions directly to the consumer (homeowners). The ideal candidate not only has a strong history of top-level solar sales performance, but they are also an expert in outside sales strategies, sales-funnel analytics, and developing an outside sales team. You’ll manage and grow the outside sales team as sales volume grows, and oversee team training, auditing of sales call performance measurement, and improvement plans for each team member. This position reports to the Director of Sales for Axia, Home Energy Solutions division. This position will be located in TX with some required visits to HQ in San Francisco, CA or Irvine, CA at times and for some site visits in certain other markets.
Responsibilities
- Hire and manage an outside Direct Sales Team that will find and qualify leads, present proposals, and facilitate signed contracts
- Serve as lead for outside Direct Sales team in defining best practices for sales strategies and to deliver a world class customer experience
- This is a performance-based position where approximately 90% of the leads are to be self-generated by the Direct Sales Consultant team and approximately 10% of the leads will come from the marketing team
- Work with sales team leadership (Sales Director) and analysts to create sales funnel forecasting and actuals tracking models related to volume and conversion metrics
- Lead team training initiatives by designing and implementing training programs, and/or work with outsourced provider to support team training
- Collaborate with Digital Products team to launch outside Direct Sales performance measurement platform that includes call auditing and tracking of individual improvement against plans
- Work with Sales Director to ensure adequate lead generation volume and market and sales channel in alignment with growth objectives
- Deliver expected sales results established by Sales Director
- Serve as point person in collecting customer feedback from the sales process and providing input to Product, Fulfillment and Marketing teams about winning tactics and messaging
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years in outside sales experience
- 2+ years in residential solar solution sales
- 2+ years in residential solar sales team management
- Substantial network among renewable energy sales professionals
- Proven ability to structure, negotiate, and close residential solar sales at scale
- Expertise in residential solar and ESS products, site audits, permitting, and solar installation processes
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of residential solar & ESS homeowner dynamics their application to business development
- Strong professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be comfortable interfacing inside and outside the company, including executive presentations, negotiations, and contractual review.
- Must be a strong leader, creative, and possess strategic planning skills.
