Government Relations Associate

We are looking for an experienced Government Relations Associate to support efforts engaging with local, state, and federal government entities and advocating for domestic solar manufacturing policies. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of relevant policy or legislative experience, with a preference for individuals with prior experience working on Capitol Hill and/or experience with trade or tax issues. Strong writing and organizational skills are essential for this role as the Associate will be responsible for research, writing, and potentially participating in government meetings. Working in person at the Washington DC office is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to implement local, state, and federal government relations strategies for Qcells, a leading solar manufacturer, solar financier, and developer.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the clean energy industry.
  • Draft persuasive written materials, including policy briefs, position papers, and correspondence.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating government meetings, including arranging appointments, preparing agendas, and gathering relevant materials.
  • Summarize and track legislation of interest, providing written updates on critical developments.
  • Watch and provide summaries of relevant congressional hearings.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, policy changes, and political landscapes affecting solar energy.
  • Participate in regular calls and meetings of trade associations Qcells is a member of and provide written summaries of meetings to relevant Qcells staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of experience in government relations, preferably in the clean energy sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with legislative processes and regulatory environments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Candidates must be willing to work in person in Washington, DC.
  • Good writing skills are a critical requirement for this role.
