ROLE: Business Development Intern

Hours: Part-time, approximately 15 hours per week

Duration: September - December (dates flexible, up to 480 hours total)

Location: NY State; remote with an optional office in Brooklyn, NY

Numina makes a hardware and software platform that uses computer vision to help urban planners and mobility companies design more equitable, walkable, and bikeable streets and public places. We pioneered the Privacy-by-Design approach to sensing bicycle, pedestrian, and other street traffic, and convert this data into real-time intelligence — without surveillance — to enable all sorts of partners in automation, autonomy, and development in the public right-of-way. We are looking for passionate people who would like to join us as we pursue our shared vision of more responsive cities.


As our Business Development Intern, you will work with our Growth Team to build Numina. You will see an immediate impact of your intern projects on the business and our growth.


  • Learn about an enterprise and government sales process!

  • Identify leads (potential buyers), using targeted research and semi-automated methods.

  • Run outbound campaigns — structuring regular outreach, drafting content, contacting leads,, and updating relevant information in our CRM.

  • Generate a list of grant opportunities for Numina, along with recommendations for prioritization.


  • Lead a review of our historical outreach to understand which campaigns have been most successful and why. Create recommendations for future campaigns.

  • Write brief, poignant, and forward thinking editorial, educational, and promotional content.

  • Attend and, ultimately, lead sales calls.


You are currently pursuing a BA or MA (or equivalent) and have an interest in mobility, transportation equity, and infrastructure. Bonus if you have worked in a start-up environment before, wearing many hats, and have been able to maintain momentum in a self-directed work environment. You have the following skills and competencies:

  • Strong communication skills & comfort speaking with potential customers at every level, across all mediums (e.g. email, phone, video, in-person)

  • Commitment to good documentation and being process-oriented, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and will be ultra-responsive to our potential customers

  • Self-management and self-awareness: Ability to maintain momentum in a self-directed environment, as well as the ability to keep a personable and flexible attitude, to accommodate productive conversations with users and with team members
