What we are looking for:

As Director of Structured Finance, you will help lead the commercialization and financing of energy storage projects across Front-of-the-Meter (FTM) and Behind-the-Meter (BTM) markets. This position will be responsible for project and partnership origination, structuring and execution in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate should have experience leading deal execution, understand power markets, renewable project economics and capital formation requirements, and be able to partner effectively with external stakeholders including developers and asset owners.

This high-visibility position requires the ability to present and interact with senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across multiple internal functions, such as sales, product, operations and legal. The Director of Structured Finance should have a solutions-oriented mindset and the drive and ambition to accelerate the Company’s growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Support creative commercial structuring for Stem’s projects and services in existing and new markets

  • Lead end-to-end execution of new transactions to established timelines

  • Develop and maintain relationships with developers and capital providers

  • Support project financing and M&A transactions

  • Lead and coordinate diligence, financial modeling and documentation processes, working extensively with various internal and external groups (including consultants and outside counsel)

  • Prepare and deliver complex analyses and conclusions to a variety of internal stakeholders, including executive leadership

  • Work closely with structured finance team on strategic projects as needed

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following domains: Investment Banking, Renewable Project Development, Consulting, Investing, Corporate Development, Corporate/Strategic Finance or similar environments

  • Renewables or power industry experience, including from the standpoint of working either within or serving infrastructure funds, renewables developers or large integrated IPPs

  • Familiarity with all aspects of the renewable energy market including the different uses of storage and solar assets in FTM and BTM applications

  • Familiarity with the lifecycle of project development, construction and operations, including how developers and asset owners drive capital formation and mitigate risk

  • Demonstrated success underwriting and executing project or structured finance transactions

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; self-starter with the ability and drive to work independently

  • Ability to review, comprehend, and critique binding legal and commercial documentation

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to convey ideas and positions clearly and succinctly

  • Skillful in cross-functional collaboration and internal and external stakeholder management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree

  • Experience with tax equity structuring

Work Environment:

  • Office Setting, primarily in cubicles

  • Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic)

  • Ability to sit or stand (standing desk provide upon request) at a computer/workstation terminal for an extended period

Salary Range

$178,350.00 - $249,900.00
