What we are looking for:

Our Asset Development Services team spearheads the strategic direction and execution of Stem's comprehensive service offerings related to development of energy storage solutions, including interconnection services. We're searching for a driven and experienced professional to champion our BESS Development Services product line. This role encompasses the full spectrum: defining the strategic vision, managing service products and roadmaps, and overseeing the process for delivery of pre-COD services. Additionally, you will own execution and delivery of pre-NTP professional services.

Leveraging Stem's established leadership in the industry, dating back to our installation of the first commercial energy storage system in 2012, you'll identify and champion the development of services that deliver tangible benefits for our customers. This includes increasing financial returns, enhancing reliability, optimizing operations, and ultimately, boosting the value of their assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the product roadmap for Stem's Asset Development Services. Conduct in-depth voice-of-customer research to understand client needs and translate them into high-value service offerings.

  • Lead the execution and define the delivery of pre-NTP and deployment services, ensuring these products maximize the viability of client BESS and other energy projects.

  • Continuously improve service offerings, execution methodologies, and roadmaps, driven by a deep understanding of client needs and industry trends.

  • Act as a domain expert, envisioning solutions for challenges in large-scale BESS and associated energy solution development.

  • Stay current on industry best practices and emerging technologies, advocating for their integration into our service offerings.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding Stem services, providing support to sales, account executives, delivery, and operations teams.

  • Develop strategic roadmaps and OKRs that extend Stem's competitive advantage and address future market trends.

  • Lead the definition of product vision, strategy, and requirements, validating direction with internal teams, partners, and customers.

  • Represent Stem's Development Services capabilities to clients, industry trade shows, and other forums.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in BESS development and/or construction.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify client needs and develop competitive Development Services plans.

  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of BESS asset development, construction, and/or operations.

  • Understanding of current market trends and solutions for utility-scale energy projects.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive collaboration and consensus within cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred).

  • Master's degree in science or business (a plus).

  • Experience in product ownership or a similar client-facing role.

  • Proven track record of managing product roadmaps and translating client needs into actionable plans and service offerings.

  • Familiarity with multiple functional areas, including engineering, sales, customer operations, finance, and marketing.

  • History of building strong relationships and successful collaborations with partners.
